Clothilde  Mounger  Quirk

 

Clothilde Mounger Quirk, age 83, died on February 11, 2009 in her home in Greenwell Springs, LA.  She was a native of Evergreen, LA and long time resident of East Baton Rouge Parish.  She graduated from Evergreen High School in 1942 and from Louisiana Polytechnic Institute in Ruston, LA in 1945.  She was a charter member and vice president of Alpha Chi Omega. She was a school teacher for EBR Parish Schools from 1956-1975 and taught eight grade science at Glen Oaks Junior High most of her career.

 

She is survived by her two sons, William Boyd Quirk, Jr. and his wife Diane and Daniel Glen Quirk; two daughters, Sally Quirk Pugh and her husband Lamar III, and Debbie Quirk Harper and her husband Danny, thirteen grandchildren, Lisa Priest, Robyn Lockwood, Bill Quirk, Heather Martin, Lamar Pugh IV, Melissa Pugh, Michelle Hunter, Marty Quirk, Jenae Quirk, Denny Quirk, Kelly Quirk, Becky Harper, and Billy Harper,  seventeen great grandchildren, and sister, Eloise Mounger, and two brothers,  Wilmer (Bill) Mounger and Ralph Mounger.   

 

She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, William Boyd Quirk, Sr, parents, Young Allen Mounger and Ethel Lee Gill Mounger, son Dennis Platt Quirk, and five brothers and four sisters.  Pallbearers will be Lamar Pugh IV, Denny Quirk, Bill Quirk, Billy Harper, and David Smith.  Honorary  pallbearers Wilmer “Bill” Mounger, Ralph Mounger, Gill Mounger, Tommy Mounger, Paul Lacour,  Richard McCormick, and Glen Priest.   

 

Visitation will be at Bayou Rouge Baptist Church in Evergreen, Louisiana, on Saturday, February 14, 2009 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. followed by a religious service and burial under the direction of Melancon Funeral Home, Bunkie.   In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Evergreen Methodist Church, Bayou Rouge Baptist Church, or Bayou Rouge Cemetery.  The family would also like to give special thanks to Dr. Vincent Tumminello and his staff for the many years of extraordinary care given to their loved one and also to Pinnacle Home Health and Clarity Hospice for their excellent care and support. Online condolences to the Quirk family may be emailed to melanconfuneral@aol.com.
