Luther Joseph Laborde
(March 5, 1923 - January 3, 2010)

 
U.S. VeteranLuther Joseph Laborde, age 86, of Natchitoches, LA, passed away Sunday, January 3, 2010, at Willis-Knighton North in Shreveport, LA. Arrangements are being handled by Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA where the family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, January 5, 2010. A rosary service will be held at 6:30 pm during the visitation. The funeral service will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Natchitoches, LA at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 with Rev. Stephen Scott Chemino, Rev. James Foster, and Rev. Ryan Humpheries. Interment will be at Memory Lawn Cemetery in Natchitoches, LA.

Mr. Luther was a veteran of World War II, were he served as a marine for three years. He worked for many years as a supervisor and district supervisor for the Farmers Home Administration in various parts of Louisiana. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Natchitoches as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Luther was always devoted to his family, friends, and church. He will be dearly missed by all.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Rae Black Laborde; his parents, Sampson Laborde and Winnie Lachney Laborde; and one sister, Nita Verzwyvelt.

He is survived by his son, John Laborde and wife Barbara of Natchitoches, LA; two grandchildren, David John Laborde and wife Lauren of Alexandria, LA and Michael Joseph Laborde of Natchitoches, LA; one brother, Rodney Laborde and wife Rosie of Austin, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Gene Knecht, Tony Mayeaux, Ricky Norman, Ray Ponthieux, Louis “Sonny” Sklar, and Ronnie Wagley.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Knights of Columbus Council #1357.
