He was the retired president of the Southern region of U-Haul and retired with J.E. Merit Industrial Contractors. He was a resident of Greenwell Springs and a native of Evergreen. He died at 12:50 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, at Sunrise Assisted Living at age 74. Maynard served in the 2nd and 3rd U.S. Marine Corps Air Wings as a sergeant during the Korean War. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Saturday, Sept. 6, from 8:30 a.m. until religious service in the chapel at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Don Hoy. Interment in Grace Memorial Cemetery, Plaquemine. He is survived by two daughters, Linda Bergeron and husband Ray and Tessie Kelley and husband Chris; four sons, Robert Firmin, Michael Firmin and wife Kelli, James Firmin and wife Donna, and Douglas Firmin and wife Connie; four brothers, Ronnie Firmin and wife Faye, Danny Firmin and wife Wanda, Randy Firmin and wife Roxanne, and Bryan Firmin and wife Julie; 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Maynard was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Jeanette Bourgoyne Firmin; parents, Esley Leo and Lillian Thibodeaux Firmin; and brother, Charles Brent Firmin. Pallbearers will be Brad, Matthew, Shane and Todd Firmin, Chad, Derick and Trey Bergeron, Trent Kelley and Reneé Vernon. Memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association. |
