Funeral services for George "Pickle" Terry will be at 1 p.m. Friday, July 10, 2009 at the Bayou Rouge Baptist Church with the Revs. David Trimbur and Gary Purvis officiating; music provided by David Townsend and Margaret Purvis.
Mr. Terry, age 88, of Evergreen, passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at the Rapides Regional Medical Center.
He was a member of the Bayou Rouge Baptist Church in Evergreen and chairman of the Cemetery Committee. Mr. Terry was a member of the Jerusalem Temple of the Scottish Shrine, a 50 year member of Masonic Lodge #326, Bunkie; and a 32nd degree Mason. He is a World War II veteran of the Army-Air Force sErving in the 90th Bomber Group.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Lula Clark Terry; four brothers, Adolphus J. Terry, William Brunson Terry, Jr., Dana "Mike" Terry, and Mervyn D. "Cotton" Terry; and two sisters, Lula Mae Terry O'Neal, and Rachel Terry Craig.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Mercedes Abney Terry of Evergreen; two daughters, Peggy Terry Pourciau and her husband George, and Carol Terry Shively and her husband Ken; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and many much loved nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday at Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home and 10 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. on Friday at the Bayou Rouge Baptist Church in Evergreen.
