Dorothy "Dot" A. Abney

Funeral services for Dorothy Abney will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 31, 2009 at the Bayou Rouge Baptist Church in Evergreen with the Rev. David Trimbur officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.

Ms. Abney, 67, of Bedford, Texas, passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2009 at her residence.

Dot was a graduate and one of the valedictorians of Bunkie High School and LOMA Insurance. She retired from the insurance business after working 50 years and was a consultant for LSW of Dallas, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her parents; Horace and Eleanor Abney; sisters, Joyce A. Bateman and Carmen A. Gremillion-Parent; a brother, S.A. "Buddy" Abney.
Survivors include; three sisters, Mercedes A. and George Terry of Evergreen, Nedra A. and Bob Rivers of Bunkie, and Elaine A. and Bud Reed of Baker and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday at Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie and 10 a.m.until the time of service at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Bayou Rouge Baptist Church in Evergreen.
