Funeral
services for Carl Paul Ducote will be at 11:00 am, Tuesday, June
2, 2009 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church with Fr. Edward
Rodriguez-Hernandez officiating. Entombment will be in the St.
Alphonsus Mausoleum under the direction of Melancon Funeral
Home, Bunkie. Mr. Ducote, age 62, of the Bayhills of Bunkie,
passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2009 in Lafayette General
Hospital. He was a retired sweet potato farmer, having farmed
for over 40 years.
He was a member of the Avoyelles Sweet Potato Association, Lake
Pearl Hunting Club, Woodmen of the World and the Bayhills Supper
Club.He was an avid duck hunter and enjoyed camping, traveling,
NASCAR and casinos.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton and Sybil
Ducote. Survivors include his wife of forty years, Beverly
Saucier Ducote of the Bayhills; one son, Blake Ducote and his
wife, Christe, of Baton Rouge; two daughters, Keisha Ducote
Bergeron and her husband, Joey, of Lafayette and Carla Ducote
Juneau and her husband, Ned, Jr., of Plaquemine; two sisters,
Mary Louise Villemarette and her husband, Donald, of Baton Rouge
and Darnell Clark of Alexandria and six grandchildren, Sara and
Jack Ducote, Allison and Ellie Bergeron and Landon and Jaci
Juneau. The family would like to thank Dr. Henry Kaufman, IV and
Dr. Gene Brierre, whom Carl trusted so dearly, for their care
and concern for Carl.They would also like to extend their
sincere appreciation to St. Joseph Hospice of Alexandria,
Hospice of Acadiana and the caring staff of the Oncology Unit at
Lafayette General Hospital. In lieu of flowers, memorial
contributions may be made to St. Joseph Hospice of Alexandria -
1308 Dorchester Dr. - Alexandria, LA 71303 or Hospice of
Acadiana - 2600 Johnston St. - Suite 200 - Lafayette, LA 70503.
Visitation will be at MELANCON FUNERAL HOME, Bunkie from 5 pm -
10 pm on Monday, June 1, 2009 with a Rosary at 7 pm and the
visitation on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 will be at ST. ALPHONSUS
CATHOLIC CHURCH, Hessmer from 8:30 am - 10:45 am.

Pelican Footnote: Carl was in the sixth grade when EHS burned in February, 1958. He was a member of the first class to graduate from the new EES in May, 1960 and graduated from BHS in 1964.
