Billie Hayes passed away on Thursday, March
19, 2009 in Sulphur. She was born in Oklahoma March 8, 1931
and was a long time resident of Bunkie. Billie graduated
from Bunkie High School in 1949, and then attended Business
School in Shreveport. In the spring of 1958 Billie began to
study the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses and on October 4,
1958 she dedicated her life while attending an assembly of
Jehovah's Witnesses in Sulphur. On December 12, 1959 Robert
Hayes married Billie and the two of them along with her four
children settled in the Bunkie area. Bob and Billie added
two additional children to their family by 1968. As she
worked diligently caring for her family, Billie developed a
sincere love for teaching people some of the wonderful
truths that she had learned from the bible. By 1984 she
volunteered to devote nearly 100 hours per month to this
ministry, an activity she continued right to the end. In
addition to regularly teaching God's word she likewise
volunteered her time to assist building Kingdom Halls,
houses of worship for fellow servants of Jehovah. Her
favorite area to assist on these projects was in the
cafeteria, preparing meals for her fellow volunteers. Billie
Hayes faithfully served her God for more than 50 years at
the time of her death. She was a loving mother will be
