William Andrew Albritton Sr.
Services for Mr. William “Bill” Andrew Albrittton Sr. will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, January 15th, 2009 at Melancon Funeral Home in Bunkie with Chaplain Jason Woodward officiating. Mr. Albritton was born on October 14, 1926, in Bogue Chitto, Lincoln County, Mississippi, the sixth of ten children to Jacob Caully Albritton and Annie Lenora Moak.
Bill Albritton, 82, of Evergreen, LA passed away on January 13, 2009 at his residence. Visitation and funeral will be at Meloncon Funerail Home with interment at the Little Flower Catholic Church Graveyard in Evergreen with a full military burial. SErving as honorary pall bearers will be grandsons, John Carter of Savanah , GA, Brad Ferguson of Madison, MS, Jake and Matt Manda of Lawrence, KS, Lee Albritton of Plaucheville, LA, and Taylor Albritton of Alexandria, LA.
Mr. Albritton was a 22 year veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a past member of the Bayou Rouge Baptist Church. He was initiated into the Bayou Chico Lodge #430 in 1963, raised to Master Mason in 1964, and received the Master’s Award in 2000 for service above the realm of duty. He was also an honorary member of the Bunkie Masonic Lodge #326 F & A.M. Organizations included Lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, having served as commander of the Avoyelles Chapter, Mansura # 47; lifetime member of the American Legion of Bunkie; and lifetime member of the VFW, Alexandria Post.
In June, 1975, he became fully retired and pursued his passion for fishing.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jacob Cauley and Annie Lenora Moak Albritton, one sister, Eva Rae Redmond and brothers, Charles, Ulysses, Claudia, Jacob, Jr., Luther, and Bennie Albritton. He is survived by one brother, Junior Moak Albritton and wife Shirley of Kansas City, Missouri and one sister Martha A. Johnston of Denham Springs LA.
Bill is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ruth Dugas Albritton, of Evergreen; one son, William "Billy" Andrew Albritton, Jr. and wife Vallery of Alexandria; three daughters, Donna Jean Ferguson of Madison, MS, Katherine "Kathy" Manda and husband Ed of Lawrence, KS, and Mary Carolyn Thoman and husband John of Baton Rouge; eight grandchildren, one step-grandchild, and a special niece, Karla Albritton of Evergreen.
Visitation will be held at Melancon Funeral home from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday January 14th and from 9:00 A.M. on Thursday January 15th until time of service.
