Ken Jans and two other Avoyelles Parish firemen who passed away in 2009 were posthumously honored at the January 28, 2010 banquet of the Avoyelles Parish Fire Chiefs Association held at the Bunkie Civic Center.

Mrs. Nettie Johnson Jans was present to receive the plaque in recognition of her husband’s years of service as a volunteer fireman for Avoyelles Parish and the Evergreen District. The plaque was presented by State Fire Marshall, Butch Browning.
