Philip Rabalais

Pvt. Philip Rabalais is the son of Carl Rabalais and Jackie Simon Rabalais and the grandson of Ryan Rabalais and Carolyn Tanner Rabalais and Erwin Simon and the late Nola Simon. Philip served in the Louisiana National Guard while attending Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, Louisiana, before being called to serve in Iraq. He was stationed in Balad Iraq as a helicopter mechanic. He served for one year, then returned to the Louisiana National Guard and re-entered Southeastern Louisiana University. Philip was called back to active duty to help with the Hurricane Katrina recovery. After Katrina, he again returned to Southeastern to continue his studies.. He is married to Gillian Howes. Gillian graduated from Southeastern and she and Philip now live in Slidell, Louisiana. Submitted by Ryan Rabalais, paternal grandfather, and a 1951 EHS graduate.
