John Jeter Crutchfield Wright


John was born on March 7, 1922, son of George Burdette Wright and Willie Chapman Crutchfield Wright. He graduated from Evergreen High School in 1941 and joined the U. S. Marine Corps on January 9, 1942 in New Orleans, La. After basic training, he served in Samoa, Guadalcanal, New Zealand, Tarawa, Hawaiian Islands, Saipan and Tinian.

His weapons qualification was a Pistol Sharpshooter. He was awarded a Purple Heart Medal on January 21, 1943 for wounds received in action against the Japanese on Guadalcanal in the Solomon Islands. He was

honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal on September 21, 1945 in New Orleans, La.

John married Jerry Hunt, daughter of Carl and Florence Hunt of Bunkie.on November 18, 1950 and they made their home in Lake Charles.He was employed by Cities Service Refining Company until his death on March 15, 1975 and was buried in the Bayou Rouge Cemetery in Evergreen.

Survivors were his wife, Jerry, son, Nathan and daughters, Sunne and Jodi, sisters, Sidney Wright McNamara and Alice Wright Porter and brother, Porter Wright.
