Curley James Bordelon

Curley James Bordelon, 83, of Dubach, died
Friday, February 1, 2013 in Ruston.  He was born in Evergreen, in 1929 to Mary Joubert and Joseph Percy Bordelon.  He was preceded in death by his mother and father; brothers, Joseph, Roland, and Chuck; and sisters, Mary, Evelyn, Beulah, and Jean.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Imelda "Fritz" Frasier Bordelon, children, Karen Buchanan and husband Russell, Curley James Bordelon Jr. and fiancé Bobbie Williams, Robert Keith Bordelon and wife Sheila, David Andrew Bordelon and partner David Cadwallader, and grandchildren, Yale Johnson, Evan Johnson, Curley "CJ" James Bordelon
III and fiancé Lauren Davezac, Melissa Bordelon Shields and husband Stephen Shields, Amy Bordelon, Michael Bordelon, Joseph Bordelon, and David Andrew Bordelon II. He is also survived by his sisters, Rose Dauzat, Joyce LaCaze, Jusmin LaCaze and Chris Bordelon, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.

Curley Bordelon served in the United States Army/Artillery for 22 years, serving in both the Korean Conflict and subsequent occupation as well as the Vietnam War, with numerous commendations and medals awarded, including two Purple Hearts and the Bronze Star. Upon retirement from the military, Curley received a Bachelor's in Education from LSU and then a Master's from
Louisiana Tech University . He then embarked on a teaching career in the Lincoln Parish schools, touching the lives of many young students and forging lifelong relationships with them. Known as "Mister B" to his students, he greeted them each day with the question, "What's going on in your world today?" Many evenings were spent coaching students through their lessons by phone.

A man lovingly known as "Pop" to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, leaves the legacy of a loving and close family that will miss him but cherish each other.

A memorial will be held at the Historic Fire Station on
Saturday, February 16th, 2013 at 10am . The Fire Station is located at 200 East Mississippi Avenue Ruston , LA 71270 in downtown Ruston .

In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the charity of your choice in his name. Charities benefiting children in any capacity and especially education were favorites of Pop.
