Funeral services for Allyn Bacon will be Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at the New Light Baptist Church in Evergreen with Rev. Gary Ford officiating. Burial will follow in the St. John Baptist Cemetery under the direction of Melancon Funeral Home, Bunkie.

Visitation will be at New Light Baptist Church on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 from 9 am until service time.

 Allyn Bacon “ AL ,” was born July 3, 1917 , to the union of Frank K. Bacon Sr. & Sufronia F. Bacon. Allyn received his formal education in the Evergreen Public School System in Evergreen, Louisiana .

Allyn accepted Christ at an early age and was united with New Light Baptist Church . Allyn Bacon was united in holy matrimony with Ethel Mae Dennis-Bacon on April 6, 1941 , in Evergreen Louisiana and their union was blessed with three children. He served in the United States Army and was a sharecropper by trade.

 Allyn Bacon departed this life on May 7, 2013 . He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Mae Dennis-Bacon, his parents Frank and Sufronia Bacon, his siblings Lula Wilkerson, Eddie Pearl Jones, Verdie Jones, Margaret Sanders, Jean Ester Juneau, Thomas Bacon, Clyde Bacon, Frank Bacon Jr. and Samuel Bacon and his granddaughter Shelia Thompson. Allyn’s memory will forever be cherished by his three daughters, Doretha (Joseph-deceased) Elmore, Evelyn (Norris-deceased) Lacour, Diane (Howard-deceased) Thompson; ten grand children, Deidra Marsh, Pamela (Darrell Sr.) Barnes - fondly known as Al’s noise maker, Rosland Wyatt, Joseph G. (Teresa) Elmore, Tammy (Silas, III ) Montgomery, Gregory Elmore, Kimberly Kilgore, Lahonda Thompson, Norris Q. Lacour and Tenisha Thompson; and twenty great- grandchildren; four great-great children; one sister Alice (Elijah) Jacobs; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Al also raised two special and very dear nieces: Doris Hayes and Eleretha Dumes.
