ROGER SCOTT MCDANIEL, SR.

(March 19, 1939 - December 10, 2015 )

MANSURA- A Memorial service for Roger Scott McDaniel, Sr. will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2015 , from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Christian Family Worship Center in Mansura, with Pastor Mark Crawford officiating.

McDaniel, age 76, of Marksville, passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2015 , at his residence.

Roger was born on March 19, 1939 , in Winnfield, to Herschel McDaniel and Evelyn Tanner McDaniel. The family later moved to Evergreen where he graduated from Evergreen High School in 1957. Shortly after graduating he married, Janis Ann Lemoine form Cottonport.
The couple them moved to Venice , where Roger accepted a position as a Butcher working for what is now Kroger Froods. He worked hard and became a District Meat Supervisor and retired in 1986. 

The couple had two sons, Roger “Scott” McDaniel, Jr., and Richard “Ricky” Brady McDaniel. Roger was a great family man, loving father, and devoted husband. He and his wife Janice were married for 49 amazing years.

Roger was a self-taught painter, he enjoyed painting wildlife and nature scenes in his retired years. Roger and Janis also loved to travel and spent many vacations with their children and grandchildren at Disney. His family and friends will always remember him as the life of the party, hardworking, caring, and a motivator.

He was preceded in death by his wife Janis Ann Lemoine McDaniel; one son, Richard Brady McDaniel, Sr.; one brother, Herschel “Buddy” McDaniel; and his parents Herschel and Evelyn McDaniel.

He is survived by one son, Roger “Scott” (Dot Aymond) McDaniel, Jr., of Marksville; five grandchildren, Nicole McDaniel Schuyler of Mansura, Michelle McDaniel (Robert) Cruz of Bunkie, Richard “Brady” McDaniel of Georgia, Arthur St. Romain of Marksville, and Tabitha St. Romain of Marksville; five great-grandchildren, Gage Schuyler of Mansura, Mckenzie Schuyler of Mansura, Drake Richard of Bunkie, Alyssa Richard of Bunkie, and Riley Dauzat of Marksville; three sisters, Dianne McDaniel, Sharon McDaniel of Texas, Pat (Jack) McDaniel Baker of Texas.
