A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered for Louis Joseph Matthews, Jr. on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at 10 AM at Church of the Little Flower in Evergreen with Fr. Bartholomew Ibe officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Melancon Funeral Home, Bunkie.

Visitation will be at Melancon Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 from 5 PM - 9 PM with a Rosary Service at 7 PM and on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 from 8 AM - 9:30 AM .

Mr. Louis "Junior" Matthews, age 88, of Evergreen, passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at the Hessmer Nursing Home. He was a retired brick mason. He was a US Army veteran, having served in the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion. He was preceded in death by his wife, Verlie Matthews; his son, Ricky Matthews; four sisters and three brothers.

He is survived by his daughter, Sheryl Richard and husband, Keith, of Opelousas ; his two sons, C.J. Matthews and wife, Theresa, of Evergreen and Stephen Matthews and wife, Lelia, of Walker; twelve grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
