Funeral services for Raymond
Johnson Fuqua of Cottonport will take place at the St. Mary’s Assumption
Catholic Church of Cottonport on Thursday, June 24, 2010, beginning at 1:00pm.
Visitations will be held at the Escude’ Funeral Home
of Cottonport on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 from 4:00pm to 10:00pm, and will
resume Thursday morning at 8:00am. A rosary will be recited Wednesday evening
at 6:00pm, and burial services will commence at the St. Mary’s Mausoleum #2.
Raymond Fuqua, age 82, passed away at the Grace Home of the St. Francis Cabrini
Hospital on Tuesday, June 22, 2010.
He is preceded in death by his
wife of 51 years, Rosemary “Diddle” Chenevert Fuqua;
parents, Mr. & Mrs. Lester Fuqua; brothers, Lacy and Jerry “Slim” Fuqua;
sister, Lyria Fuqua Reynolds. He is survived by his;
nieces, Nancy Reynolds Stone & husband Harry of Arkansas, Michelle Chenevert Lasyone & husband
John, Tiffany Chenevert Rabalais
& husband Jason, all of Cottonport. Surviving nephews are Ernest “Buddy”
Reynolds & wife Janette of Baton Rouge, Johnny Lacaze
& wife Melba of Pineville, Troy Chenevert &
wife Noriko of Japan, Travis Chenevert & wife Krishell of Marksville and numerous great and
great-great-grandnieces and nephews.
Raymond, a carpenter by trade,
was a lifelong resident of Cottonport where he was employed by and retired with
Cassidy Tire and was also a farmer. He served 5 years in the U.S. Army during
the Korean War and was honorably discharged with rank as a Corporal.
Services and funeral
arrangements are under the direction of Escude’
Funeral Home.
In Lieu of flowers it is
requested that donations be made to the Disabled Veterans’ Administration.
