Memorial services for Gloria Janelle Jeansonne will be at 11:00 am, Saturday, Feb. 26, 2010 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Cottonport with Fr. Raj officiating. Entombment will follow in the Sacred Heart Mausoleum in Moreauville under the direction of Melancon Funeral Home, Bunkie. Janelle, age 63, of Cottonport, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010 at CHRISTUS St. Francis Cabrini Hospital. She was born August 29, 1946 in Marksville, LA. She was a graduate of University of Southwest Louisiana and worked as a teacher and librarian at Simmesport High School. She later became a medical technologist at Lafayette General Hospital. After her retirement, she was an active member of the Cottonport Museum. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas and Gloria Marcotte Jeansonne. She is survived by uncles and aunts, Wiley Jeansonne and his wife, Maureen, Thaddeus Jeansonne and his wife, Sandra and Louis Hillary Marcotte and his wife, Jackie. She is also survived by numerous cousins and dear friends. In lieu of flowers, donations made be made in her memory to the Cottonport Museum - P.O. Box 1611 - Cottonport, LA 71327.
