Funeral services for Cynthia Kay Barnett Laborde will be at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, March 17, 2010 in Bayou Rouge Baptist Church with Rev. David Trimbur officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Melancon Funeral Home, Bunkie.

Cynthia Kay Barnett Laborde passed away on Saturday, March 13, 2010 in Rapides Regional Medical Center, Alexandria, LA. Cynthia attended school in Dighton, KS, where she graduated in May, 1985 then attended Colby Community College on Colby, KS. Cynthia and her three sons moved to Cottonport where she had managed the Cottonwood Apartments and had a daycare.

Survivors include her husband, Ricky Laborde of Cottonport; three sons, Spencer Chapin, Austin Atherton and Jordan Atherton all of Cottonport, LA; a grandson, Tanner Chapin of Cottonport; her parents, Paul and Karen Barnett of Dighton, KS; two brothers, Darin Barnett and his wife, Virginia, and their two daughters, Cassandra and Venessa of Artesia, NM and Brent Barnett and his wife, Julie and their children, Keatyn and Lexia.

Visitation will be at Melancon Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 beginning at 4:30 pm and from 11 am – 1:30 pm on Wednesday, March 17, 2010.
